The Wave, Vintage Hair Tutorial Part 2

So continuing on with my vintage hair tutorials, I thought I would show you the simplest thing to do with your pin curls if you are not wanting to wear them as pin curls. This is the part where a brush comes into play. Very carefully separate your curls by hand. Create a part using a rat tail comb, preferably off to the side. Once your hair is parted on the desired side, get out your brush. The best brush to use for the traditional wave is a soft bristled brush.

Very carefully section by section starting in the front. Use long continuous strokes to lightly brush out the curl. This will cause a slight frizz at first, but don't worry, we will take care of that later. Work your way from one side in the front, around the head to the other side in the front.

Now that your curls are brushed you may notice some frizz, or some of the waves going in odd directions. Now take individual sections that are frizzy or going an odd way, and brush the hair out around the palm of your hand in the direction you want the wave to lay. If you are unsure what I mean I have included a short video of this step. Once finished, spray hair lightly with hair spray.
Think you can't wear this style? Too dated? Check out the Picture above from Diors Fall line. His models rocked the wave all over the runway!
